Imphal, April 24 2011:
A fish market would be built at the crossing between Thanga Part I and Part II together with a village market within the current year, stated the Government's chief whip T Mangibabu.
The MLA was speaking at a distribution of old age pension function.
The pensioners got Rs 2400 each for two years.
Mangibabu said that the plan to construct a fish market and a common village market between Thanga Part I and Part II is in line with the Government's plan to develop Loktak lake as a tourist centre.
The fish market would be constructed under the sponsorship of DoNER Ministry.
He went on to declare that there would be no roads in Thanga constituency which has not been black-topped by the end of the current year.
To take up water supply schemes which can supply potable water throughout Thanga constituency, necessary funds have been
earmarked under NLCPR.
There is no provision in the Loktak Protection Act which prohibits fishing in Loktak, Mangibabu clarified.
Old age pension being given by the Social Welfare Department would be increased to Rs 200 per month from the current month, equivalent to the old age pension being given by the Central Government.
