Districts boundaries to be worked out

Boundaries of the seven districts created anew would be determined by a District Boundary Commission which would be headed by a retired High Court Judge.
In accordance with a decision adopted at a Cabinet meeting last night, administrative Secretaries of Home, Revenue and Tribal Affairs and Hills would be inducted into the District Boundary Commission as members.
Meanwhile, Deputy Commissioners and Superintendents of Police of the newly created districts have assumed their offices from today, informed an official source.
On being enquired about the election duties of the DCs and SPs of the new districts, the source informed that their duties would be determined by the Election Commission.
Chief Minister O Ibobi would visit Jiribam and Pherzawl by helicopter on December 14 .
After creation of Jiribam district, Imphal East district will now have three sub-divisions namely Porompat, Keirao Bitra and Sawombung.
Jiribam district would have two sub-divisions��Jiribam and Borobekra.
While Tadubi, Paomata, Purul, Willong, Chillibai Phaibung, Song Song and Lairouching sub-divisions have been retained under Senapati district, Kangpokpi, Champhai, Saitu Gamphazol, Kangchup Geljang, Saikul, Lungtin, Island and Bunte Chiru sub-divisions have been placed under Kangpokpi district.
While Thoubal and Lilong sub-divisions remain under Thoubal district, Kakching and Waikhong districts have been placed under Kakching district.
Chandel, Chakpikarong and Khengjoy sub-divisions would remain under Chandel district whereas Tengnoupal district would have three sub-divisions namely Machi, Moreh and Tengnoupal.
While Ukhrul district retains Ukhrul, Lungchong- Maiphai, Chingai and Jessami sub-divisions, Kamjong, Sahamphung, Kasom Khullen and Phungyar sub-divisions have been brought under Kamjong district.
Churachandpur, Sangaikot, Tuibong, Mualnuam, Singngat, Henglep, Kangvai, Samulamlan and Saikot sub-divisions would remain under Churachandpur district while Pherzawl, Thanlon, Parbung-Tipaimukh and Vangai Range sub-divisions would be brought under Pherzawl district.
Tamenglong district will retain Tamenglong, Tamei and Tousem sub-divisions while Nungba, Khoupum, Longmai (Noney) and Haochong sub-divisions would be brought under Noney district.
The new DCs for the new district have taken charge of their offices from today.
They are T Ranjit (Kangpokpi), Kh Raghumani (Tengnoupal), A Tombikanta (Pherzawl), H Rupachandra (Noney), Armstrong Pamei (Kamjong), Dr Harmit Pahuja (Jiribam) and Th Kirankumar (Kakching) .
The SPs who have taken charge of their offices are TK Anal (Noney), N Manimohan (Pherzawl), S Gautam (Kakching), Luchinthang Raghui (Kamjong), H Balaram (Kangpokpi), Hopeson Sapam (Jiribam) and S Somorjit (Tengnoupal) .
The State Government has also created two offices of Additional Deputy Commissioner with headquarters at Mao in Senapati district and Jessami in Ukhrul district.
Meanwhile, Zeliangrong civil societies of Jiri area, while, welcoming the creation of seven new districts by the State Government, said that there should not be any dispute regarding the district boundaries and the ancestral land of Zeliangrong should not be affected.
The civil societies also urged the State Government to release Gaidon Kamei and Shankhil Stephen, at the earliest.
Meanwhile, the Rongmei Naga Youth Organisation Manipur (RNYOM) has stated that the creation of new districts should not encroach into any part of Noney and Tamenglong districts even by an inch specially by the newly formed Kangpokpi district and Jiribam district, conveyed a statement issued by RNYOM president Singamlung Dangmei.
