Many hail Govt, celebrate new districts

Extending gratitude to the State Government for declaring Jiribam as a full-fledged revenue district, Jiribam District Demand Committee (JDDC) today announced that the committee has henceforth called off all forms of agitation, reports our Jiribam correspondent.
A large number of people celebrated the creation of Jiribam district with impromptu Thabal Chongba near Jiribam Super Complex and Gularthol Keithel.
JDDC advisor M Hemanta said that the wishes of the people of Jiribam has been fulfilled by the State Government.
"We are extremely grateful to Chief Minister O Ibobi and local MLA Th Debendra Singh.
I want to convey my gratitude to all the people of Jiribam irrespective of community and religion for their relentless support to JDDC," he said.

People of Tengnoupal today took out a rally from Tengnoupal Bazar to Sita Lamkhai to express gratitude to the State Government and local MLA D Korungthang for declaring Tengnoupal as a full-fledged revenue district.
Exalting the State Government' decision, people shouted slogans like "Long live O Ibobi Singh", "Long live Congress Government", "We welcome Tengnoupal district" etc.
The people of Kakching, today, celebrated its newly announced district status with huge aplomb from the early hours of the morning, with people thronging to Kakching Keithel and organising Thabal Chongba and bursting fire crackers.
The Government of Manipur announced the creation of seven new districts namely Noney, Kakching, Kangpokpi, Jiribam, Pherzawl, Kamjong and Tengnoupal, at a late night Cabinet meeting yesterday bringing the total number of districts in the State to 16 .
In celebration of the news, Indrani House, Kakching, showed two films to the public free of cost.
Parking fees at Kakching Keithel were waived off and toll tax were exempted for the day.
Even transport vehicles carrying people to and fro from Kakching were not charged any fare for the first trips.
Kakching Assembly Constituency MLA Y Surchandra also took part in the celebrations with people and expressed gratitude to the Chief Minister for honouring the demands of the people.
The celebrations continued till the night with music concerts and shows organised at Kakching Keithel.
Th Kiran Kumar (IAS) and S Gautam (IPS) have been appointed as the Deputy Commissioner and SP of Kakching district respectively.
S Gautam also conferred badges to four newly promoted Havildars of Kakching police station.
A joint statement released by the Kuki Chiefs Association (KCA), Kuki Students' Organisation (KSO) and Thadou Students' Association (TSA), Chandel district have expressed heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to CM O Ibobi and his Cabinet for the creation of Tengnoupal district.
The Kuki CSOs welcomed all the officials transferred to the new district namely Kh Raghumani Singh, DC Tengnoupal district and S Somorjit Singh MPS, SP i/c Tengnoupal district.
People of Noney too celebrated with much zeal and vigour welcoming the State Government's decision of creating Noney district. People gathered for the celebration hailed Chief Minister O Ibobi and Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam for the historic decision.
Speaking at the gathering, Horticulture and Soil Conservation Commissioner T Pamei remarked that the State Government has brought development to the doorsteps of people by declaring Noney as a new district.
People of Noney welcomed the Government's decision by lighting candles in the evening.
The Block Congress Committee (BCC), 43-Phungyar Assembly Constituency, has expressed its profound gratitude to Chief Minister Okram Ibobi Singh and his Council of Ministers for the declaration of Kamjong sub-division as district on December 8 .
The BCC in a statement said termed the creation of seven new districts as a 'historic achievement' in the history of Manipur.
While welcoming the decision, the BCC has also urged the Government for early implementation of the order to facilitate effective functioning of the new districts.
