Wangkhei will fight 'one family politics': Erabot

Without directly naming Chief Minister Okram Ibobi, his Cabinet Minister Y Erabot has stated that 'one family politics' being pursued by a family of Khangabok with an aim to bring the entire State under iron-fisted control of one man would be challenged befittingly in Wangkhei Assembly constituency.
Speaking at a flag hoisting function of Laishram Memcha who is contesting the upcoming IMC elections from Ward No 23 today, Commerce and Industries Minister Erabot stated that it demands timely intervention against the politics of a Khangabok family who have been preparing to put up their relatives as candidates in different Assembly constituencies including at Wangkhei.
Such 'one family politics' would be given befitting reply in Wangkhei A/C, Erabot said.
Keeping aside all party interests, a contractor is being projected as a candidate to contest against the MPCC chief in Nungba A/C in the next Assembly polls.
In Wangkhei A/C too, a contractor belonging to Khangabok AC who has been provided with bullet-proof vehicle along with security guards is being projected as a candidate.
The people of Wangkhei A/C should give a befitting reply to such politics.
"To achieve this end, it is not a big matter whether I remain a Minister or not", Erabot iterated.
"Even though there is a Congress led Government in the State, I have been standing alone for truth and the party.
In spite of being a Congress member, I was not given ticket but I got elected on MSCP ticket", Erabot reminded.
He said that his efforts to join Congress was brushed aside in 2007 but he was ultimately given Congress ticket on the advice of AICC president Sonia Gandhi.
"The ambush at Leimaton on the return journey from Nungba after canvassing there for the MPCC president in the last Assembly elections was a conspiracy to not only defeat me in the elections but also to assassinate me", Erabot asserted.
"By undertaking repeated attacks and placing weapons in my house, my adversaries sent reports to the AICC president in their attempt to remove me from the ministerial post but all went in vain.
That is why, I'm still a Minister", he claimed.
He went on to claim that his ministerial post was given by the AICC.
Saying that he knew the man who sought votes at Telipati by promising that no more bombs would explode there, Erabot alleged that most of the issues related to monetary demands that broke out at Telipati were conspiracies.
In most of these cases, security personnel were involved, he said.
He further called upon the people not to support 'outsiders' in the elections for Councillors and Ward Members in Wangkhei A/C and also to defeat 'one family politics' .
