Unity call stressed on Chavang Kut

Deputy Chief Minister Gaikhangam has said that nothing good can be accomplished by instigating the sense of separation in the people of the State, who are living together in unity and harmony.
He was speaking as chief guest at the inaugural function of three-day Chavang Kut celebration held at Gangam Lentol in Moreh today.
Organised by Chavang Kut 2014 Celebration Committee under the theme, 'Awakening, Discovery and Redemption for Unification', the inaugural function of the biggest post harvest festival of Kuki-Chin-Mizo groups was also attended by Manipur Tribal Development Committee Chairman T Manga Vaiphei as the president and IFCD Minister Ngamthang Haokip as the guest of honour.
In his speech, Gaikhangam said that Kut is a festival which spreads the message of love, prosperity and unity.

He said that nothing good can be accomplished by adopting the sense of separation and enmity.
Saying that Manipur is a beautiful State, resided by the people of different communities, Gaikhangam said that people must uphold the beauty of integrity.
All the misunderstandings will subside automatically when people forget differences, Gaikhangam said and added that celebration of Kut would be more meaningful when unity and harmony prevail.
Regarding Moreh, Gaikhangam said that the border town would serve as a gateway to South East Asian countries.
Asserting that Moreh is home to different communities, Gaikhangam said that the State Government is committed to develop the border town as a cosmopolitan city.
He also sought cooperation from the public in this regard.
Former MP Holkhomang Haokip, Kuki Inpi Manipur President Thangkosei Haokip, KNO president PS Haokip, ADC members and representatives of different organisations also attended the function.
Apart from State cultural troupes, groups from Tripura and Bangladesh also presented their cultural items at the celebration.
