Governor, others greet on Ningol Chakkouba

Governor Dr Najma Heptulla has conveyed heartiest greetings to the people of Manipur, particularly women, on the occasion of Ningol Chakkouba.
In her message, Dr Najma said that Ningol Chakkouba is a unique festival of the Meitei community, which is observed every year on the second day of Hiyangei (October-November) .
On the day, married sisters are invited over by the brothers to a feast and give 'dakhina' thereafter at their parental homes and these intimate moments streng-then the bond of love and affection between brothers and sisters, the Governor said.
She then urged all to celebrate the festival in its true form and spirit.
Wishing the people of Manipur, specially the married women, Rajya Sabha MP cum president of BJP Manipur Pradesh, K Bhabananda Singh also prayed that the festival may bring peace, progress and prosperity to all the people of Manipur.
Lok Sabha MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze also greeted all the womenfolk of Manipur on the occasion.
May this occasion not only rejuvenate family ties but also kindle the spirit of brotherhood to bring peace, prosperity and peaceful co-existence in the State, Dr Lorho wished.
Meanwhile Social Welfare and Cooperation Minister Nemcha Kipgen has extended warm wishes to the people of the State, specially women on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkouba festival.
Speaking to media persons at her quarters at Lamphelpat, the Minister wished all the people on the occasion which make the bond between brothers and sisters stronger.
She wished for the festival to bring more love between different communities and to reduce the rate of crime against women and children in Manipur.
On the other hand, Lok Janshakti Party (LJP) Manipur State Unit has conveyed warm wishes to the people of the State, specially the Ningols, on the auspicious occasion of Ningol Chakkouba festival.
A statement issued by the spokesman of LJP Manipur State unit further prayed that the festival may bring peace, unity and prosperity in the State and among the various communities.
