Imphal, February 26 2013:
The recent seizure of drugs worth Rs 25 crore from a team of six persons led by PIB-DW PRO Col Ajay Chowdhury by Manipur Police has unmasked the covert policies of the Government of India and its alleged puppet Manipur Government.
This was not the first time drugs were seized.
It was not long back huge consignment of drugs worth several crores of rupees were seized from different places of Imphal.
However, except for the arrest of a few transporters of these drug consignments, the real owners of these drugs have not been pulled up till date.
Certain portions of these huge consignment of drugs are kept and supplied to the people of Manipur and the remaining portions were smuggled into Myanmar, said a press release issued by PREPAK's Assistant Secretary, Publicity and Propaganda Leibakngakpa Luwang.
This cross-border and trans-national smuggling of drugs is generally done by VVIPs, VIPs and top-ranking security officers of the State Government and the Government of India.
That was why, these drugs could never be intercepted while being transported on National Highways despite presence of large number security check-posts along the highways.
Even as people have clear idea about the modus operandi of these high-profile drug smugglers, they cannot say anything for want of evidence.
But the arrest of Col Ajay Choudhury and five other smugglers together with huge consignment of drugs on February 24 has confirmed beyond doubt that it is the high-profile and influential civil and military officers who have been smuggling drugs in and out of Manipur, the outfit asserted.
The Government of India's alleged strategy aimed at total abolition of Manipuri people is two-pronged.
The first one is, killing the revolutionaries as well civilians with all available means and methods after tagging them as terrorists.
The second is the drug warfare which is more deadly and can ruin the nation for generations to come.
It's time for the people of the land to stand firm and fight back the drug warfare together with the revolutionary groups for the real actors of the warfare have now been unmasked.
The outfit also acknowledged the pro-active roles being shared by police personnel towards saving their fellow brothers and sisters from the deadly jaw of drugs.
But PREPAK has certain apprehension about a possible situation where the valiant and dutiful police personnel may be victimised by their superior officers and the ruling political class in support of the drug smugglers.
Given such a scenario, people need to be vigilant all the more, it added.
