Imphal, August 15:
Manipur University Tribal Students' Union (MUTSU) expressed gratitude to Chief Minister O Ibobi for his assurance of taking State Cabinet decision in the coming sitting on tribal reservations in the University at par with the State reservation norms.
MUTSU however warned that the union would leave no stone unturned until the words of the Chief Minister are put into action.
It further said that the crucial meeting was attended by MUTSU, KSO, TKS, ZSUM, CDSU and other district level representatives, which was spearheaded by ATSUM.
Reminding the aggreement signed on February 29, MUTSU also expressed reservations over VCs action in the appointment of Political Science lecturer.
The students' union also condemned the VC for avoiding to meet the representatives of the union on August 14. If the Manipur University Sstudents' Union (MUSU) representatives can meet the VC without appointment, why not MUTSU, the tribal students union asked.
Giving support of its claim, MUTSU said that as there is no trace of tribal students in the signboard put up by the MUSU at the University gate that reads MUSU welcomes freshers', MUTSU said that it testifies that MUSU does not recognise tribal students.
MUTSU also demanded seperate funds for them as well.
