In a one day free Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) camp held at Leingangching village in Ukhrul district on Jan 10 2008, over 230 patients with different cases were treated and provided with the required medicine.
Under the sponsorship of District Health Mission Society (DHMS), such event organised for the first time in the village gave benefits to scores of people not only from Leingangching but also from its surrounding villages like TM Kasom, Litan Sareikhong, Monkot Chepu, Sikibung, Lungpha etc.
Cases of URTI, Warm infestation, dysentery, Enteric fever etc were mainly detected from the patients during the camp.
Of several women who reportedly suffered from gastritis, arthritis etc, forty of them were found with the case of Reproductive Tract Infection (RTI) .
Inaugurating the day's camp, the village chairman, Phungshim who is also the chairman of VHSC maintained that implementation of NRHM scheme with the initiative of the Centre and State Govt has benefited several villagers by providing not only immunisation facilities but also ensuring JSY scheme for women during their delivery period.
Highlighting Government's financial aid, the chairman said, "Under NRHM, every village gets Rs 10,000 as initiated fund through insanitation committee set up in the village," adding "villagers particularly the children and pregnant women also get the benefit of immunisation facilities every month".
While each woman whose delivery case is being done at home is given Rs 500, the other whose condition needs the service of institutions like PHC, PHSC gets Rs 700 through ASHA, Phungshim further said.
Appreciating various schemes being initiated by the Govt, Phungshim maintained that such developmental programmes have brought the consciousness of living a healthy life among the villagers and urged them to extend full cooperation towards any developmental programme being initiated by the Govt.While a team of Doctors from Paediatric Hospital Ukhrul, MHS, ART, PHC Lambui treated the patients, Lambui PHC nurses and staff led by S Ingocha Singh dispensed with their service in the camp supervised by the staff of Block Programme Management Unit Ukhrul Centre.
Among other dignitaries, district programme manager Ukhrul, O Pushpa Devi attended the camp and interacted with ASHA members on the need to improve the health of villagers.
