Newly elected MLA of Thangmeiband A/C, Khumukcham Jaykishan has promised that he will put in effort to increase the quantity of potable water being supplied in his Constituency within three months.
The Trinamool Congress MLA, along with an official team of PHED, inspected the development works of the Constituency today.
Speaking to reporters, Kh Jaykishan said that people of Thangmeiband A/C are currently facing acute shortage of water supply.
Quoting the PHED officials, the MLA said, damage of pipe lines in the construction of sewerage project, leakage of pipe lines at the foothill of Cheiraoching and domestic lines and unauthorised connections are the main reasons for the loss of water.
Fixing of leakage of pipeline at Cheiraoching foothill and change of domestic pipe lines with GI pipes would be completed within three months, he added.
The MLA also urged the general public not to acquire new connection without the permission of PHED.
Kh Jaykishan said that it was found that earth was being used instead of sand gravel in filling up the pits dug up for sewerage project at Thangmeiband Watham Leirak.
The MLA added that he has instructed the officials concerned to use sand gravel instead of earth.
