Imphal, May 22 2012:
The Manipur State Congress Party (MSCP) has been doing all it can to ensure that justice is done in the controversial murder/death case of Loitam Richard, claimed MLA RK Imo.
Speaking to media persons at his Sagolband residence today, Imo said that the issue was discussed in a meeting of the party's central committee and it subsequently decided to launch protest movements.
Imo said that he called on Union Home Minister P Chidambaram on May 9 and submitted a memorandum on behalf of the party.
The basic points of the memorandum were, hand over the case of Loitam Richard to CBI and arrest the two students involved in the case.
The Home Minister reportedly assured that he would work to hand over the case to CBI in case the matter could not be resolved in a justified manner.
Chidambaram also assured to obtain daily reports about the investigation progress from the Government of Karnataka.
MSCP legislature wing leader Karam Thamarjit said that the party was against the Karnataka Government's decision to hand over the case to its own Corps of Detectives.
He pledged that MSCP would work further to ensure that justice is delivered in the murder case of Richard.
