Imphal, July 21 2011:
MLA RK Anand has made Urea available to the farmers of his Naoriya Pakhanglakpa Assembly Constituency at a subsidised rate of Rs 400 per bag.
Along with giving a subsidy of Rs 100 per bag, the MLA distributed around 400 Urea bags among the farmers at 15 different places of his Constituency today.
Talking to mediapersons on the sideline of distributing the Urea bags, MLA RK Anand informed that he had taken the Urea at the rate of Rs 520 per bag, excluding transport and labour charge, from fertiliser dealers of the Government.
As the Government has not provided the subsidy despite assurance, the Urea bags have been made available to the farmers at a subsidised rate from his side, the MLA said, adding that the Urea bags have been provided after requesting the Minister concerned for solving of the farmers in his Constituency.
In case the farmers required more Urea, the same would be provided, he assured.
Meanwhile, the MLA today inspected the condition of Waishel river and expressed gratitude to Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh on seeing uninterrupted flow of water.
Dredging of the Waishel Maril and removal of the waste material blocking the water current with deployment of machineries under strong instructions from the Chief Minister well ahead of the rainy season has ensured smooth flow of water and solve the problem of flood in Imphal and Greater Imphal area during rainy season at least to some extent.
Waishel river is big enough, and it is not because of Naoriya that there is flood in Imphal, but on account of narrow drains, the MLA asserted.
