Imphal, January 30, 2012:
BJP has demanded re-poll in certain polling stations of Thoubal AC and Saikot AC.
Addressing a press meet at their Nityaipat Chuthek office today, BJP National Secretary Tapir Gao said that the Presiding Officers of polling stations 31/6, 31/18, 31/21, 31/24, 31/31, 31/35 and 31/36 of Thoubal AC refused to give any information about how many votes have been cast in these polling stations.
As such, it is highly questionable if voting was manipulated at these polling stations by the Presiding Officers in collusion with the Indian National Congress.
Likewise in Saikot AC of Churchandpur district, no photographs were taken for the voters who cast their votes in 59/10, 59/21, 51/15 and 51/3 polling stations.
Tapir Gao further alleged that Indian National Congress offered cash to voters at these polling stations.
Taking strong exception to such deceitful election practices committed by INC in cahoot with some Presiding Officer, BJP has lodged a complaint with the Election Commission of India seeking re-poll in those particular polling stations.
Tapir Gao reiterated that BJP would join the coalition Government of non-Congress parties which would be established in the State after the election results are declared.
The press meet was also attended by BJP Manipur Pradesh president Sh Shantikumar.
