Hqtrs IGAR (S) celebrates raising day

HQ IGAR (South) added yet another milestone to its glorious and splendid history as it celebrated its 13th Raising Day today.
HQ IGAR (South) was raised in the year 2004 at the historic Kangla Fort and moved subsequently to its present location at Mantripukhri.
According to a statement issued by the PRO of IGAR (S), the grand day commenced with the Inspector General Major General VS Sreenivas, paying homage to the martyrs of the formation at the Martyrs Memorial in the Garrison.
Major General VS Sreenivas, Inspector General, Assam Rifles (South) conveyed his greetings and best wishes to all ranks of HQ IGAR (South) and applauded their efforts towards creating a conducive and secure environment in the State.
He exhorted the force to strive for the well being and safety of the people of Manipur at all times.

The festivities included a social evening organised at Officers Mess which was graced by a number of civil and military dignitaries.
To mark this momentous day, a large number of programmes such as Meena Bazaar and Pagal Gymkhana were organised for the troops.
A Barakhana was also organised with invitations extended to personnel from all the Assam Rifles sectors and units under the IGAR (South) .
Amid festivities marking the occasion, it is also appropriate to place on record the role of IGAR (South) � the largest counter insurgency force in the country.
The AR has contributed not only to the security and peace in the State, but also has aided developmental activities especially in the border areas, the statement said.
The raising day celebrations marked yet another successful year to the annals of the HQ IGAR (South) and the oldest paramilitary force � Assam Rifles.
In a short span of time since its inception in 2004, IGAR (South) has been able to achieve a lot and continues to strive for excellence in every field.
On its raising day, IGAR (South) takes the opportunity to reassure the people of Manipur that it is an organisation committed to the well being, safety and security of Manipuris, it added.
