CBI raids homes of Asst Prof, CO (Retd) of HG

The Central Bureau of Investigation on Wednesday raided official quarters of an Assistant Professor and residence of a retired Commandant of Home Guards Manipur University on charge of issuing "fake orders" for deployment of "fake home guards" at the varsity.
A team of the CBI Imphal branch raided the official quarters and office premises of the Assistant Professor identified as Dr N Sanatomba and residence of the then Commandant Home Guards (MU), SP Thaisi at Paomei Colony, Chingmeirong.
CBI recovered several incriminating documents including land purchasing deeds, said sources.
The CBI Anti-Corruption Branch (ACB) Imphal had registered a case against Security Officer of MU/Assistant Professor Dr N Sanatomba Singh and then Commandant, Home Guard, SP Thaisi on the allegation that they had entered into a criminal conspiracy to issue 'fake orders' for deployment of Home Guards at Manipur University.
SP Thaisi had issued 4 fake office orders on April 4, 2017 for deployment of Home Guards at MU and based on these fake orders, Dr N Sanatomba had deployed/engaged 24 fake Home Guards as security personnel at MU, said CBI.
The raids were conducted following search warrants issued by Special Judge PC Act, Imphal West.
The items seized from the official quarters of Dr N Sanatomba include files/documents relating to the deployment/engagement of home guards at MU (including the engagement of 24 fake Home Guards), documents showing purchase of .31 acre of homestead land at Langthabal, purchase of .625 acre and another .78 acre of agricultural land at Kanong, Konthoujam.
12 LIC policies (2 in his name, six in wife's name, 2 in daughter's name and 2 in son's name), 2 Post Office RD Accounts (one each in the name of daughter and son), 7 bank accounts (2 in his name, 2 in wife's name, 1 joint account, one each in daughter's and son's name), one credit card in his name, one i20 Hyundai Car, one Honda Activa, one bicycle (Java), etc were also recovered.
Dr N Sanatomba had joined Manipur University as Assistant Professor in the Manipuri Department in 2008 and he has been also holding the charge of Security Officer, said sources.
