Doc ordered to stay in quarantine centre

Dr SM Ayub, a consultant doctor of Peace Hospital and Research Institute, Porompat who was arrested for breaking quarantine rules was released on bail today afternoon with strict direction to not leave the quarantine centre till completion of necessary examination and testing.
Dr SM Ayub had been confined along with other staff in a quarantine centre which was opened at the institute from April 2 onwards, after a 65 year old man from Lilong, who attended a religious congregation in South Delhi last month, tested positive for COVID-19.The man was earlier admitted and treated at the said institute (from March 20 to 22).Dr SM Ayub was apprehended by police yesterday after he fled from the quarantine centre.
Porompat PS also slapped an FIR against him for breaking the quarantine rules and he is being kept at JNIMS security ward since yesterday, a source pointed out.
Dr SM Ayub was produced before the Duty Magistrate, Imphal East, by a police team and after hearing the submissions from the IO and going through the case records, the Court granted bail to the doctor.
He was also told to furnish a PR bond of Rs 20,000 as well as a surety of the same amount and sternly told not to leave the quarantine centre till the completion of necessary examination and testing.
After the Court granted him bail, Dr Ayub was taken away by a police team to the quarantine centre, the source added.
The source also pointed out that Dr SM Ayub indeed turned out to be one Dr Md Ayub Ali, a medicine specialist posted at Thoubal District Hospital.
