Imphal, April 07 2020:
Amidst the lockdown due to coronavirus outbreak that has killed more than 76,000 worldwide, Kangleipak Students' Association has appealed State Government to initiate several steps to effectively handle the crisis and ensure help reaches the all.
Asserting that there have been many complaints regarding relief rice distribution at many places, KSA in a statement said that the Government should ensure that all get their share of relief.
Authorities and the agents concerned should not depend on the voter's list to distribute relief materials.
Relief materials should be distributed solely based on the number of persons in the family, it said.
Government should ensure there is no gap or disturbance in the supply chain of vegetables and other livelihood materials including water.
These items should be made available easily to the people at their respective Leikais, said KSA.
KSA also said that the Government should provide proper shelters and welfare measures to the mentally challenged people, drug users and sex workers during the lockdown.
Anticipating continuation of the lockdown for sometime, KSA said that the Government should provide seeds to encourage kitchen gardening during the lockdown.
The Government may consider districtwise lockdown, if it continued, and enforce social distancing strictly, it said.
