Manipur has tremendous potential for development of tourism sector as it is endowed with mesmersing places which can attract tourists, stated Governor Dr Najma Heptulla at the inaugural function of the Kaushal and Job Mela under Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikash Yojana (PMKVY) today at Sangai Conference Hall, Hotel Imphal.
PMKVY is a flagship scheme of the Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship (MSDE), Government of India.
The mela was organized by MSDE and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) in collaboration with JCRE Skill Solutions.
Dr Najma, who attended the programme as the chief guest, said that all the necessary resources are available to transform the State into one of best tourist destinations.

"All we have to do is tell the rest of the country and the world that Manipur is the best place," the Governor said.
She stated that other sectors which will be good for providing jobs to the educated unemployed youth of Manipur would be beauty and wellness including health care.
Citing her encounter with Manipuri youth working across the country in various fields, she added that there is tremendous potential for the youth of Manipur to excel in various fields.
Developing resorts and hotels to accommodate incoming tourists will also provide employment opportunities, she added.
The Governor also pointed out the need to train more people in the health and ancillary services sector.
She said that the mela with stalls set up by 30 corporates will be helpful to ascertain which sector is to be prioritised in order to give skill training and employment to the youth.
Chief Minister O Ibobi Singh, who was also present at the programme, said that the State Government is examining various start-up models which have been implemented in different States across the county to provide skill development.
"We are also working to develop Manipur Start Up Policy which is aims to develop entrepreneurship in Manipur.
Under this policy, the State Government will extend support in providing skill development training by even engaging consultants and starting capital to start an industry to the unemployed youth.
Providing employment opportunities and creating avenues for the unemployed youth of the State is one of the most important objectives of the State Government," the Chief Minister said.
He continued that if employment opportunities and employment rate are high then peace and development will prevail.
MSDE Joint Secretary Rajesh Agrawal said that the mela is the first of its kind conducted in the North East India.
Labour and Employment Minister T Manga Vaiphei also attended the programme.
As part of the function, PMKVY certificates to 15 surrendered insurgents who were trained as linemen under PMKVY, job offer letters to 5 candidates, RPL certification to 15 candidates and skill competition prizes to three best weavers were distributed.
