Senapati District Police organises 'COVID-19 free village competition'

Senapati, June 05 2021: In view of the increasing number of COVID-19 infection in the second wave, Senapati District Police has come up with a unique proposal to organise a "Covid free village competition".

Senapati District SP IPS M Pradeep Singh announced the 'Covid free village competition' with cash prizes to be implemented across the district from June 5 to October 1.The initiative is a brainchild of SDPO Senapati IPS Ingawale Pravin Dadaso, which aims to curb the spread of covid-19 in the villages.

There are around 170 villages in Senapati district.

The first prize is reported to be Rs 10000, 2nd prize-Rs 7000, 3rd prize- Rs 5000 along with consolation prizes for the next 10 villages.

The result of the competition would be declared on October 10 and prizes would be distributed on October 21, the Police Commemoration Day.

The rules of the competition are as follow: The Competition will be of 300 marks; 100 marks will be for Covid free village (Penalty (-10) for every Covid Positive case in the village; 100 mark are attributed for vaccination percentage of eligible village population (above 18 years); 100 marks are attributed for number of Police challan for violating Covid appropriate behaviors (villages with no challan will get 100 marks) and penalty of (-5) marks for every challan by Police for violating Covid appropriate behavior guidelines by villager.

An independent team of District Police would assess all the mentioned criteria based on data from June 5 to October 1 provided by the Police Station and Health Department.

To even out large and small villages, the percentage calculation would be done on population data.

So, all villages would have equal chances to win the competition.

The competition would encourage villagers to follow Covid appropriate behaviour at village level.

The initiative would also encourage the villagers to stay home and step out only for emergency purposes, which would help curb the spread of Covid-19 and break the chain.

The District Police has invited all the villages in Senapati to participate in the competition to make their villages Covid free.
