Mission Sahasi: a true empowerment of women

Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) is on a nation-wide campaign in the name of Mission Sahasi to teach impactful critical self-defence and survival skills to girls.
As part of Mission Sahasi, which is being conducting across the nation in association with Vidyarthi Nidhi Trust Mission Prahar, trainers are teaching the techniques of self-defence using everyday objects like Kada, ATM card, Pen or hairpin which are commonly found in a woman's purse.
In Manipur too, Mission Sahasi is being conducting at 22 different places and providing training on self-discipline, self-awareness and self-defence to empower the women community of the state.
Imphal Times contacted Narendra Sapam, National Secretary of AVBP regarding Mission Sahasi, to which the student leader said "We at ABVP believe in empowering children, students of Indian to become the leaders of tomorrow.
We want them to create an impact in every social and educational domain.
Mission Sahasi is one such revolutionary drive of strengthening the girls of India" .
"While some celebrities are busy to earn popularity through #meetoo chain, ABVP is busy in training our girls to defend themselves by learning basic self- defence techniques", said Indrakumar Salam, Joint Secretary of ABVP, Delhi.
"Give man a fish a day he will survive; but teach him to catch fishes, he will live by himself," said the Joint Secretary of ABVP, while highlighting the importance of Mission Sahasi.
"Don't make our girls dependent all the time.
Make them independent and real empowerment," he added.
While, RK Meme (IPS), DIG (CB), Manipur said that Manipur has been known for its respect of women but in recent past things have changed.
In this world of violence against women, Mission Sahasi of ABVP is the need of the hour.
This nation-wide initiative by ABVP will certainly help the young girls in defending themselves, the DIG of Crime Branch lauded the Mission Sahasi.
