Imphal, January 30, 2012:
Altogether 33 polling stations where EVMs were captured or damaged or polling could not be held smoothly due to some reasons on January 28 would go to re-poll in the first week of February.
However, there is not a single polling station in the valley districts where re-poll would be conducted.
An official source informed that Returning Officers of the five hill districts have submitted lists of polling stations to the Chief Electoral Officer where re-poll has been recommended.
The CEO, in turn, has forwarded the same lists to the Election Commission of India.
Nine polling stations in Ukhrul district, four polling stations in Tamenglong district, eight polling stations in Senapati district, six each in Churachandpur and Chandel districts have been named for the repoll.
It is expected that the Election Commission would fix a definite date for the re-poll, conveyed the official.
For the 33 polling stations which would go to re-poll, 93 companies of central paramilitary companies have been reserved.
Meanwhile, all the polling personnel have reached their respective district headquarters today.
Counting of votes would be done on March 6 at the nine district headquarters as well as the offices of ADC Kangpokpi and ADC Jiribam.
