Two held with lethod gun

Imphal, January 27, 2012:
Two members of the armed outfit UPPK have been apprehended by Imphal East commandos from different places along with a lethod gun and a lethod shell today.
They have been identified as Sapam Priyojit (39) s/o Iboton of Okram Chuthek Kitna Panung and Hidam Suraj (27) s/o Rajo of Uchekon Khunou.
The lethod gun and shell were recovered from the possession of Hidam Suraj.
Displaying the seized weapons in his office room today, Imphal East Commando OC H Chandrakumar said that Imphal East commandos, acting on a specific tip-off, conducted search operations at Okram Chuthek area this afternoon in the course of which Sapam Priyojit was pulled up at around 3.30 pm.
On preliminary interrogation, Priyojit disclosed that UPPK cadre Hidam Suraj was taking shelter at the residence of Trinamool Congress candidate Th Bishorjit, said the OC.
At this, Priyojit was asked to call out Suraj through mobile phone and also to bring along the lethod gun and the shell.
Suraj came out with the lethod gun and shell and he promptly apprehended by the cops near Ningomthong Nandeibam Uku at about 4 pm, said the OC.
Bishorjit has however denied the charges and dubbed it politically motivated.
Meanwhile, 10 cadres belonging to SoO groups have been detained by Churachandpur Police for their direct involvement in the election process.
According to information received from District Election Office, Churachandpur, the apprehended cadres have been sent to Imphal.
