Biswajit inspects Shirui to Kachoupung road

Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Thongam Biswajit Singh inspected the 103 kms long road from Shirui village to Kachoupung village constructed under the Prime Minister's flagship programme Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY) yesterday.
The road inspection team led by the Minister also included MLA Alfred Kanngam Arthur, DCs of both Ukhrul and Kamjong districts, DISHA members, MSSRDA/Rural Engineering Department Chief Engineer Pantishing Thaimei, Additional CE Kh Rajen Singh, local representatives and media persons.
Briefing media persons at the end of the inspection at Khayang village, Th Biswajit said that construction of the Shirui village to Kachoupung road was initiated around 2015-16 under PMGSY Stage I work.

However, after locals showed discontentment with the previous alignment, he had assured the House to personally inspect the road and do the needful, he added.
Th Biswajit said that MP Dr Lorho S Pfoze and MLA Alfred Kanngam Arthur have also shown their deep concern for the said road and to improve connectivity in the area.
The Minister added that the target for completion of the project taken up under Stage II is March 2022 .
The State Government is committed to bringing equal development, the Minister said and added that people will be ensured their fundamental rights.
He said the Government is in putting all efforts to ensure that the roads are motorable and all-weathered to ensure that the socioeconomic status of the people is enhanced.
The Government spokesperson also lauded MLA Alfred Kanngam Arthur, DISHA, village chiefs, Tangkhul Naga Long (TNL) and other civil organisations for their cooperation and support.
The scheme is implemented by the Manipur State Rural Roads Development Agency (MSRDDA)/Rural Engineering Department (RED) in the State.
During the inspection trip, the Minister and his team was warmly received at villages located along the road namely Mapum village, Zingsui village, Roni Village Chamu village, Mitiyang village, Phungtha village, Kachoupung village, Khayang village among others.
