Imphal, May 05 2021:
Thangmeiband Assembly Constituency's MLA Kh Joykisan has proposed the State Government to allow him look after food arrangement for Covid patients admitted at RD Wing, Lamphel.
The MLA brought up the proposal during a Covid Vaccination Camp launch programme at Iputhou Naothingkhong Pakhangba Shanglen today.
Speaking to media persons on the sidelines of the programme, Joykisan called on people of the Thangmeiband AC to get vaccinated for one's own safety as well as for the safety of others.
While highlighting the devastation caused due to the second wave of COVID-19 across the Nation, Joykisan said the State Government has put Greater Imphal under containment zone and imposed many restrictions.
These measures should be adhered to considering the rapid surge of Covid cases in the State, the MLA said and urged all to strictly adhere to SOPs.
He also said that an issue regarding supply of food for Covid patients lodged at RD Wing Covid Care Centre and other similar centres set up by State Government is looming large.
Noting that Covid patients at these centres have been asked to arrange food for themselves, the MLA said that this is a matter of concern and added that in some cases, the family members happen to be far from the centre where the patients are admitted.
That this is the reality when there is restriction in movement of people should be noted, he added.
As such, supplying food is a burden itself, he lamented and appealed all fellow MLAs to take up responsibility for food arrangement for centres opened at their respective ACs.
Acknowledging the initiatives of the State Government in the fight against the virus, the MLA said that it is no time to point finger at the Government but a time for all to work collectively beyond party lines.
Joykisan also expressed readiness to start serving food to Covid patients at RD Wing Covid Care Centre opened for Thangmeiband AC from May 7 onwards.
