Imphal, February 05, 2012:
Fearing reprisals from certain quarters, that had been exerting pressure for repolling in some polling stations of the three Assembly segments under Kangpokpi Autonomous District Council, officials of Kangpokpi Additional Deputy Commissioner's office are reportedly reluctant to attend office.
An informed source said that complaints were received of electoral malpractices in the January 28 election along with subsequent demands that repoll be ordered in about 13 polling stations of the three Assembly segments.
Based on the complaints, a formal statement had been placed before the State election office for further conveyance to the Election Commission of India, said the source adding that inspite of the intimations there is no positive response from the ECI on the matter till date.
It is informed that while the ECI reply is being awaited there is no let up in pressure being exerted on the ADC, Kangpokpi from various quarters thereby leading to the ADC officials unable to work in a conducive environment.
