Imphal, January 19:
Former Ministers Y Erabot and Vivek Raj Wangkhem besides MSCP leaders would personally approach the Election Commission of India at New Delhi to demand de-recognition of the merger of MSCP with the BJP.
While former Minister and central committee member of the party Dr Y Jiten is already camping at the national capital on the matter, party president M Hemanta and MLA Vivek Raj left Imphal today, informed spokesman cum general secretary of MSCP Kh Devbrata to The Sangai Express.
The Delhi visit is in compliance with the EC directives to personally appear before it, he said adding that Y Erabot and other party leaders will follow suit in a phased manner.
Expressing confidence that the EC will rule against the merger move, Devbrata said the Supreme Court would be approached if the EC's decision is not satisfactory.
On the alleged case of encroachment at the Nityaipat Chuthek office of the erstwhile MSCP by the BJP, the spokesman said hearing on the matter will commence from January 30 at the Civil Judge Senior Bench Court.
Hearing on the revenue appeal lodged by the party will also begin from February 6 at the court of DSO-I of the Revenue Department, he disclosed.
Devbrata also alleged that by adopting delaying tactics and taking undue advantage of loop-holes in the Indian legal system, the BJP has lured the EC to believe that processes for transfer of the Nityaipat plot to the BJP was conducted legally.
He further said no individual has the right to claim the MSCP office plot as it belongs to the people of Manipur.
The public understands who is responsible for the legal wrangling over the tract of land and which party deserves the same, he said.
On the Naga peace talks between Government of India and NSCN (IM), Devbrata said M Hemanta and other party leaders will apprise national parties on preserving the territorial integrity of Manipur during their New Delhi sojourn.
