The Meitei National Front will be organizing a function on Jan 25 to mark the 274 th anniversary of the burning of Meitei Puyas at Kangia Uttara Mamang.
Chief Minister O Ibobi, MoS Higher Education T Meinya and Angayung Tangkhul son Hungphu's village chief will preside the function as chief guest, president and guest of honour respectively.
The information was disclosed to media persons by the Meitei National Front's president Chingsubam Akaba at his residence yesterday.
He also informed that a public rally would be held on the same day at Imphal as part of the function.
The proposed rally would begin from Hapta Kangjeibung at 10 am.
Informing that the rally would be joined by participants from Tripura, Bangladesh and Myanmmar the president also appealed to the people of Manipur to join the said rally.
It may be mentioned that the Meitei Puyas were destroyed on Wakchingi 23 panba 1729 by Garibaniwaz in collusion with the Hindu Proselytizers.
