Imphal, October 05 2012:
The number of Parliamentary Secretaries to be appointed from among the elected disgruntled Congress legislators who did not get Ministerial berths has been reduced.
Earlier it was fixed at seven, but now reduced to five only.
According to highly placed source, induction of seven Parliamentary Secretaries, which had been cleared by the State Assembly and also later consented by the Governor, has been delayed due to shortage of funds in the State Account.
Probably, it was on this ground that the State Government has decided to decrease the number of posts of Parliamentary Secretaries to 5 only.
Though the source refused to divulge the names of the five MLAs to be inducted as Parliamentary Secretaries, it is said that the names of the 'lucky' MLAs would be taken along by the Chief Minister to Delhi.
The Chief Minister would announce the names of the MLAs when he returns.
The source further revealed that the Chief Minister is also likely to return with a handful of money acquired from the Centre.
The State is presently going through a lean financial phase, the source added.
