IBSD gets new Director

The Appointment Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), Govt of India headed by PM Narendra Modi has approved the appointment of Prof Dinabandhu Sahoo as the new Director of Institute of Bioresources and Sustainable Development (IBSD), Imphal.
The institute has been without a full time Director since 2009.The new Director has now given a new direction to the institute with a long term vision and roadmap for the development of North East region, according to Sr AO, IBSD Imphal.
His major area of works is sustainable development, climate change and bioenergy.
A Professor in the Dept of Botany, University of Delhi, Prof Sahoo is a scientist of international repute who has vast experience in the field of environment and biotechnology.
He is also presently the Chairman of Governing Body of Kalindi College, DU.
Not only having the distinction of being the first Indian student to visit Antarctica during the 7th Indian Scientific Expedition to Antarctica in 1987-88, Prof Dinabandhu was part of the team in establishing India's permanent scientific station in Antarctica.
Prof Sahoo has also the distinction of making two trips to Artic and travelling all the seven continents and 5 oceans in less than two years period.
Besides, he has also published several papers in leading international journals and published six books.
