National seminar at Maram

A two-day National seminar on the theme "Myth and oral tradition as sources of reconstructing history: A special reference to North East India" organized by the Department of History, Don Bosco College, Maram under the auspices of the Indian Council of Social Science Research (ICSSR), NERC, was conducted on October 20 and 21 .
The inaugural session was attended by Dr N Lokendra Singh, Registrar, Manipur University, Professor Salam Irene, HoD, Department of History, Manipur University and Rev Father Dr KO Sebastian, Rector and Principal, DBC, Maram, as chief guest and guests of honour respectively.
Speaking at the occasion, N Lokendra Singh stressed on the need of oral accounts of tracing human existence in reconstructing the history of different ethnic groups in Manipur or the whole North Eastern region in general.
Professor Salam Irene and Rev Father Dr KO Sebastian also spoke at the event.
Dr Anthony Kaba, Assistant Professor, Department of History, DBC, Maram delivered the key-note address.
The inaugural function concluded with words of appreciation from Lungailin Gangmei, Convener and HoD, Department of History, DBC, Maram.
There were altogether four panel sessions and a total of nine papers were presented by various scholars from North East who delved into the various aspects of oral tradition.
The valedictory function was marked by colourful cultural programme today.
