Security measures beef up in Assam following intelligent's report of possible militant attack

Assam is on high alert following intelligence reports that a "13-member action group" of the outlawed anti-talks faction of the United Liberation Front of Assam, Independent (ULFA-I), led by fugitive commander-in-chief Paresh Barua, is planning to launch an offensive in "Guwahati and in adjoining areas which is likely to stretch upto Nalbari" .
The "action group" is only handled by Arunodoi Dohotia, publicity chief of the ULFA-I, as per inputs.
Surveillance has been mounted with intensified patrolling in and around the airport, railway stations, government establishments, strategic locations all over the state apprehending strikes by the ULFA-I.As per the intelligence inputs, the militant outfit is planning to carry out "serial blast by planting IEDs in cars/bikes inside the city to divert attention from Indo-Myanmar border".
The inputs reveal that the militant outfit is planning to carry out a blast in Upper Assam in the "next few days" .
The inputs reveal that "several intellectuals, lawyers, students, youths, artists, politicians" have been reportedly found to be in support of the ULFA-I.The intelligence sources stated that the outfit is using over ground workers (OGWs) as "moles for various operational work like surveying targets through different techniques" .
As per the inputs, moles of Islamic terrorist groups are also reportedly "in search of fertile ground in Assam".
The "nexus" between the ULFA-I and "Pak-ISI sponsored Islamic terrorist groups" have been taken into account.
Security has been directed to intensify in "pockets of Hindu Bengali and Hindi speaking people".
The districts have been directed to activate intelligence, GRP, local police, review security arrangement of the BJP/RSS leaders and the "other right-wing like-minded political parties" .
The Northeast Frontier Railway has been directed to take all security precautionary measures in coordination with GRP, RPF, local police, intelligence agencies and security agencies to avoid any untoward incident in the railway system.
It may be mentioned the ULFA-I has claimed responsibility of the blast outside the Central shopping mall at RG Baruah Road near Assam State Zoo where at least 12 persons, including two security force personnel, sustained severe injuries.
