YLWS & IRDEO conduct piggery training programme at Kwatha Village

Yangoupokpi Lokchao Wildlife Sanctuary (YLWS), Tengnoupal in association with Integrated Rural Development and Educational Organisation (IRDEO), Manipur conducted a training programme on "Livelihood and income generation from piggery" at Kwatha Village's community hall, Moreh Sub-Division, today.
The training programme was presided by Waikhom Romabai, Divisional Forest Officer, Forest Department, E Hemo Singh, Deputy Conservator of Forest, Tengnoupal, Dr Ng Devkarna Singh, Project Coordinator, IRDEO Wangbal, Angom Amu Singh, chairman, Kwatha Village, N Kamal, chief of Kwatha Village and Anurag Bajpai, Additional Principal Chief Conservator of Forest (APCCF), Forest Department as dignitaries.
Addressing the gathering after lighting the ceremonial lamp, Anurag Bajpai said that the training programme was organised to give proper knowledge about piggery (pig farming) so that the denizens of Kwatha village could provide employment opportunities to themselves and earn supplementary income to improve their living standards.
Stating that 26 individuals will be selected and provided piglets and other neccesary items for piggery in the first phase, he added that more persons will be provided the same benefits in the following phases.
He opined that felling of tree in large scale for business purposes will be reduced significantly if more people are involved in poultry and pig farming.
The programme was conducted under the aegis of Integrated Development of Wildlife Habitat 2018-19, Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, GoI.
