Imphal, July 11: Members of various organisations cutting across community lines have launched a relay hunger strike at Yaiskul today against the NSCN (IM) ceasefire extension in Manipur.

The relay hunger strike is organized by Yaiskul athletic Club.

Around one hundred volunteers are participating in the relay hunger strike.

Photos of the 14 persons who were martyred in the June 18 uprising and the photo of Ima Tamphasana who was killed in the July 15 torch rally are put up at the site of the hunger strike.

The relay hunger strike will go on till July 31.The struggle Committee on Withdrawal of Cease Fire, an umbrella organisation of the AIYF, AISF, All Manipur Nupi Marup and AMYPO today announced that a rally to Parliament will be held on July 23 and a massive rally will be organized throughout the State on the same day.

A memorandum signed by the people of Manipur will also be submitted to the President.

The Committee has appealed to all organisations, clubs and women organisations to participate in the rally and make it clear to all that the Manipuri people will brook no attempt to compromise with the territorial integrity of the State.

Members of the Manipur Students Association, Delhi have been on a hunger strike since July 8 demanding immediate revocation of the NSCN (IM) ceasefire to the soil of Manipur and safeguarding of territorial integrity of the state.

In a statement faxed from Delhi today, the secretary general of MSAD, Chingsubam Imoba Singh said the students are braving the hot 40 degree Celsius.

The hunger strike is carried on in front of Pondicherry Bhavan as the Resident Commissioner of Manipur Bhavan in connivance with Delhi police.

CRPF and Delhi fire Brigade are determined not to let the students air their agitations, said the statement.

The statement further lampooned the RC.

MLAs and MPs who are cocooned inside the safe confines of Manipur Bhavan and have no concern for the issues conforming the State.

Many students were also injured in the lathi charge against the students, among others, L Bikash, NK Singh, Chingsubam Imoba and M Sunil were injured.

A peace rally was taken out by Manipuris in Guwahati today.

The rally which began at Manipuri Basti marched upto the Guwahati Raj Bhavan to submit a memorandum.

Manipurgi Apunba Ngamkhei Kanbada Tengbangba Lup organized a rally today.

The rally later converged there.

More than 2400 students of Wangoo HS, Wangoo Laipham HS, Wangoo Girl HS, Sagang HS, Kumbi HS, Pangaltabi HS and Panchabari HS took part in it.

A public meeting demanded withdrawal of the Centre�s decision.

Muslims and Meiteis today staged a sit-in �protest together near Sekmaijin Bridge.
