Rs 2000 relief each for stranded Manipuris

The State Government has decided to transfer Rs 2000 each in the bank accounts of 2020 Manipuris stranded at different parts of the country on account of the country-wide lockdown triggered by the COVID-19 pandemic.
A high level meeting held today with Chief Secretary Dr J Suresh Babu in the chair decided to transfer Rs 2000 each to the bank accounts of stranded Manipuris immediately.
The meeting was attended by DGP LM Khaute and Administrative Secretaries, informed a source.
The meeting also decided to utilise geo-fencing app developed by IT Department for people under home quarantine.
As decided at the meeting, each MLA would be provided 500 three-layered masks and two cans of Sodium Hypochlorite.
Social Welfare Department was asked to take up necessary measures for drug users as well as for children homes, orphanages and old age homes to cope with the lockdown.
The meeting further decided that DCs would issue statements everyday regarding distribution of rice within their respective jurisdiction in addition to submitting a detailed statement to the Chief Secretary everyday.
A temperature screening equipment would be provided to the Manipur Zoological Garden authority and the zoo staff would be examined from time to time.
This was another resolution adopted at the meeting.
Meanwhile, as quarantine period of some people has been completed, the total number of people placed in quarantine centres has come down from 163 to 139, according to information received from the State Health Department.
Two samples were tested today for COVID-19 and both of them turned out to be negative.
So far, 194 samples have been tested for COVID-19 in the State while a suspected case is being treated in a hospital, added the source.
