Health Centres to double up as permanent vaccination points

The Directorate of Family Welfare Services has announced names of various health centres in all districts which will function as permanent Covid Vaccination Centres (CVCs) .
As per a memorandum issued by the Directorate of Family Welfare Services, the centres will be opened on all days except Sundays from 10.30 am to 3 pm.
The timing may extend beyond 3 pm if there are beneficiaries waiting to be vaccinated, the memorandum said.
The health centres which have been named as permanent CVCs are District Hospital Bishnupur, CHC Moirang and CHC Nambol (except on Tuesdays and Thursdays) in Bishnupur district; District Hospital Chandel, CHC Chakpikarong and PHC Komlathabi in Chandel district; District Hospital Churachandpur, PHC Saikot and CHC Singngat in Churachandpur; JNIMS, PHC Sawombung, PHC Bashikhong in Imphal East; RD Wing, RIMS, CVC Manipur University in Imphal West; District Hospital Jiribam and PHSC Chandranathpur in Jiribam district; CHC Kakching, CHC Sugnu and UPHC Kakching in Kakching district; CHC Kamjong, PHC Kasom Khullen and PHC Phungyar in Kamjong district; CHC Kangpokpi, PHC Saikul and PHC Motbung in Kangpokpi district; CHC Nungba, PHC Noney and PHC Khoupum in Noney district; CHC Parbung and PHC Thanlon in Pherzawl district; SDH Mao, PHC Maram and Mini Stadium DHQs Senapati in Senapati district; District Hospital Tamenglong, PHC Tamei, PHC Oinamlong in Tamenglong district; HWC Aimol Tampak and PHC Moreh in Tengnoupal district; District Hospital Thoubal, PHC Lilong and CHC Yairipok in Thoubal district and District Hospital Ukhrul and Old DH Kamphasom in Ukhrul district.
The permanent CVCs were announced in line with the meeting held on June 3 to ramp up the ongoing COVID-19 Vaccination in the State.
State Mission Director, NHM Manipur, in a memorandum issued on the same date said that various initiatives were laid down during the meeting held in the presence of State Immunization Officer, DFWOs, DIOs and representatives of WHO, UNICEF and UNDP.
Identification of CVCs in each districts and announcement of the centres as permanent CVCs in print media to allow people to visit on the scheduled time and get vaccinated; allotment of exclusive CVCs for 18-44 age groups to enable maximum beneficiaries through online appointment on week days and to held a reserve session or walk-in registration in districts where there is connectivity issue, were among the initiatives planned to be taken up.
The meeting had also planned to keep few CVCs on outreach mode to allow maximum vaccination of 45+ beneficiaries apart from 'community-based vaccination approach' for community members who may face difficulty in reaching CVCs due to non-availability of transport, health issues etc, it said.
Community-based vaccination approach can be conducted at non health facilities based setting like community halls, schools or public places with adequate space and DFWOs/DIOs may approach to local MLAs/DCs/local clubs for logistics support, suitable location and mobilisation of beneficiaries, it said while adding that such sites should be registered in CoWIN portal.
A mechanism (Near-to-Home Vaccination Centre) will be worked out soon to initiate and ensure vaccination of elderlies and differently abled citizens, said the memorandum which also highlighted that differently able persons are now allowed spot registration and accorded priority in getting vaccination at their nearest CVCs.
It was also discussed to direct DFWOs/DIOs to generate mass awareness on COVID-19 vaccination through local clubs, CSOs, community based organisations and Churches in view of the lack of interest for vaccination in rural areas and hill districts.
DWFOs/DIOs were also directed to open more CVCs either in the health and wellness centre or suitable sites in their respective districts to maximise vaccination to eligible population, avoid overcrowding and workload of healthcare workers in the existing CVCs.
