Killing of Sapam Robinhood Commission closes argument hearing

Justice Mutum Binoykumar Singh Commission of Inquiry which has been probing the circum-stances leading to Sapam Robinhood's death, concluded the argument hearing and reserved the draft report for submission to the Government today.
The Commission heard the submissions of police Counsel M Munindro and Commission's Counsel S Lakhikanta during today's final argument hearing.
It may be mentioned that the Commission was constituted on August 1 last year to probe the death of Sapam Robinhood in police action during a pro-ILPS stir on July 8 last year.
The first sitting of the Commission was held on October 5 last year.
During its 21 sittings held at the State Guest House from October 5 last year to January 16 this year, the Commission examined 12 police witnesses, 13 witnesses from the side of the victim and five Commission witnesses.
Police witnesses include Imphal East Additional SP (Law and Order) P Manjit, Imphal East Dy SP (Operations) Lourembam Deben, Thangjam Dinesh of Porom-pat police station and the police personnel who have been suspended in connection with the incident.
Victim's witnesses include JCILPS Convener Kh Ratan, JAC (Robinhood) Convenor Chanamthabam Hemchand, Robinhood's father Sapam Romesh and some students of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy.
Commission's witnesses include Raj Medicity Medical Superintendent Dr RK Ku-marjit, Public Hospital Man- aging Director Taj Uddin Mohammad and Angom Shijalembi Chanu, the Executive Magistrate stationed at Minuthong on the day the incident happened.
It may be mentioned that after Robinhood was injured at Minuthong, he was initially rushed to Public Hospital and later shifted to Raj Medicity.
The Commission conducted a spot enquiry at Minuthong along with police personnel and family members of Sapam Robinhood on January 22 this year.
The Commission later heard the arguments of the Counsels of victim, police and Commission for three days.
The argument hearing began on March 30 and concluded today.
Robinhood JAC convenor, family members and students of Ananda Singh Higher Secondary Academy were present during the argument hearings.
All the Counsels were also present at today's final argument hearing.
Senior Advocate Khaidem Mani is the victim's Counsel and he is assisted by Y Johnson.
