Imphal, June 17:
All Manipur Students Union (AMSU) which has threatened to launch a secessionist movement from the Indian union following the cease-fire extension, has today asked all MPs and MLAs to resign, giving a 48-hour deadline for the latter to declare their stand in this regard.
An AMSU letter signed by the president Oinam Shyamchand and secretary general CS Kongsai and addressed to the MPs and MLAs of the state also contended that the MPs should resign as they were not consulted by the government before the decision was taken.
It said, MSCP MP Th Chaoba who is also the Union minister of state for food processing industries should resign immediately as he was ignored by the NDA government as the BJP-led NDA government did not think it necessary to consult him before the extension of the cease-fire into the state.
The statement also pointed out that the governments disregard of Manipurs representative in the Parliament is a total disregard of the people of the state by the Centre.
Your (Chaobas) statement conveying the assurance of the Union home ministers false assurance is very unfortunate for the people of the state, the statement said.
It further asked if the Union home minister also clarified on the claim of Th Muivah that the Nagas have 1200000 square kms and how for long the state is to beg for its territorial integrity to the Indian government.
The cease-fire extension is a mockery of the state Assembly which has endorsed its opposition to the cease fire extension for four times.
As for the government of India , even if the cease-fire extension is revoked, it (Indian government ) will still own an apology to the people of Manipur, that too from the responsible authority, it said adding that the Union minister of state should resign immediate from their seat without further delay.
It also called upon the MLAs who have vowed to prevent the cease-fire extension during the elections, to come out of the hole and fulfill their vows by translating them into action, adding that they should do as good in defending the territory as they are in defecting from one party to another if there is no Manipur, neither you will be, nor we, it said.
