Imphal, March 22 2021:
Khundrakpam Kendra Youth's Organisation (KHUKYO) organised 'World Forestry Day' today at its office in Pukhao.
Speaking at the event, L Sanjit, president, KHUKYO, said all of us seem to have forgotten that we all are 100% dependent on mother nature for survival and we are clearing forest at an unprecedented rate.
He added that scientists working in the field of climate change have opined that the recent wildfires at Amazon and Australia will have an adverse effect on the climatic conditions of the world.
L Sanjit also said that many forest patches in the State are also being cleared without realising the long term effect it will have upon the environment.
He also expressed disappointment on the ineffectiveness of the environment protection steps taken up by the Government.
If the schemes of the Government have been implemented effectively, Manipur would not be facing water shortage that it is currently facing, he added.
The exhibition will provide a platform to the artisans to showcase and sell their products to a wider audience, added one of the organisers.
