Govt should take all responsibilities of Ranjita's murder, says JAC

The JAC formed against killing of Ranjita today warned that State Government should be held responsible for any unwanted eventualities related to the brutal murder of Ranjita.
This was announced today by the JAC in a meeting at Yairipok Khoirom which was held following a meeting with the Chief Minister in presence of local MLA Meghachandra, MLA Shyamkumar, Education Minister M.Okendra, Adhyaksha of Imphal East K.Tombi, ZP member Kh.
Sobha, Pradhan S.Kumar and representatives of meira paibi organisations.
With the expiry of the deadline earlier set by the JAC which demanded arrest of the killers of Ranjita, the JAC cautioned the government to take all the responsibilities for any untoward incident arising out of the incident.
It may be recalled that Ranjita, a resident of Yairipok Khoirom Mathak Leikai under Yairipok Police station was found stabbed to death after a possible sexual assault by some unknown persons at her own paddy field on the night of August 2 .
The JAC received the dead body of Ranjita after the Chief Minister gave the assurance that the culprits would be arrested and punished at the earliest.
During today's meeting, the Chief Minister reportedly instructed concerned police officers to make the arrest at the earliest possible.
After the meeting, local MLA and Parliamentary Secretary Meghachandra also reiterated his cooperation and efforts in effecting arrest of the culprits.
Sharing the grief of the bereaved family, Meghachandra appealed to the people to stay calm and cooperate in the police investigations.
Earlier in the morning today, people of Yairipok area staged a sit-in protest at Khoirom Mathak Leikai Hand Pump Keithel and blocked road in protest against the murder.
