Imphal, October 05 2012:
Observing that state Education Department and its machineries are suffering from a serious malady of corruption, All Manipur Students' Union (AMSU) has charged that all the staffs under Zonal Education Office, Kakching are involved in rampant corruption and thrive on malpractices.
In a statement, HDR Secretary of AMSU Romen Leishangthem asserted that the student body is fully aware about the corruption and other malpractices being carried out by the staffs of ZEO, Kakching, and alleged that Deputy Inspector M Rajmohan Singh of Kakching Ningthou Pareng along with school Headmasters/Headmistresses under his jurisdiction formed School Management & Development Committee (SMDC) at their sweet to pocket the funds sanctioned for school development.
Romen further asserted that the visit reports to government and aided schools prepared by the Assistant Inspectors (AI) and the Deputy Inspectors (DI) under the ZEO are only for the sake of maintaining office records only and there is no authenticity of these reports.
The student body has demanded the ZEO to handover the 'plain paper report copies' of all the school visits by its staffs especially that of the AIs and the DIs to the survey team of AMSU.
The statement informed that a survey team of AMSU has discovered that headmaster of three schools namely Hiyanglam Mayai Ibeton Primary School, Hiyanglam High School and Hiyanglam Mayai Ibetombi High School (Aided) misuse the funds sanctioned under the SSA and RAMSA schemes.
Apart from it, there is no toilet facilities and proper infrastructure in these three schools, currently being run from the same campus.
