Medical team heads for Bukpi to control outbreak of 'unknown disease'

CCpur, August 22 2019:
A medical team comprising of State level IDSP and district level IDSP has left Churachandpur district HQs for the interior village of Bukpi in Thanlon sub-division where an outbreak of unknown disease has been reported since last week.
Schools in the village have been closed due to the outbreak and a 3-year-old boy has reportedly succumbed to it before he could be taken to Thanlon PHC on Friday.
Villagers have informed their relatives in Churachandpur town that the symptoms of the disease include fever, perspiration during sleep, abdominal pain, cough etc.
The team that will conduct a thorough investigation of the outbreak will be stationed at the village for at least two days.
The team includes H Shyamkishore Sharma, State microbiologist; Dr L Shiv Dutta, scientist VRDL, JNIMS; Dr Prem Chongtham, Vet consultant and W Holland Singh DEO from the State level IDSP and Dr Thangginmang, MO Thanlon; Thangthianmuan DPO, NVBDCP Churachandpur; Sandi Manbiakhoih, ANM; John Baite, Epidiomologist; N Johny, DEO; and Dr C Tawmbing, Paediatrician District Hospital Churachandpur from the local health offices.
DC Pherzawl Mannuamching flagged-off the medical team from the Chief Medical Office Churachandpur yesterday.
Meanwhile, the number of people are tested positive for Japanese Encephalitis (JE) and Scrub Typhus have swelled rapidly with the number people infected with JE touching 70 while that of Scrub Typhus reaching 4.The tropical disease Dengue which has for several years affected hundreds in Churachandpur infected 6, according to official data.
