Illegal bamboo transportation halted

Jiribam, February 09 2018:
With a view to prevent illegal transportation of bamboos and other forest products through NH 37 and the porous waterways of Barack river and Jiri river, a combined team of Jiribam district police and Forest Department of Jiribam district halted an attempted illegal transportation of 20,000 bamboos.

A press release issued by SP, Jiribam district police stated that the bamboos were seized when it was about to be shipped to Assam without any permit or valid documents.
While, a fine of Rs 44,309 has been imposed as penalty by the Forest Department, it stated.
It urged all businessmen/dealers concerned to carry and obtain transit pass or other relevant documents from the authority concerned before transporting any forest products.
