Training cum awareness prog

Churachandpur, February 09 2018:
A two-day training cum awareness programme on promoting improved technology of maize production under NEH Region, kicked off at Pearsonmum, Churachandpur today.
The programme was organised by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Manipur Centre, Imphal in association with Krishi Vigyan Kendra, CCpur under the sponsorship of ICAR-Indian Institute of Maize Research, PAU campus, Ludhiana, Punjab.
61 farmers participated in the training programme where quality seeds of Maize (HQPM 1 and 5) for 30 hectares area and other critical inputs were distributed.
The programme was attended by Joint Director, ICAR Manipur Centre, Dr I Meghachandra Singh, Principal Investigator of the project, Dr MA Ansari, Scientist Agronomy, ICAR Manipur Centre, Dr Blessa Sailo, Scientist Animal Science and Dr Niranjan Lal, Senior Scientist and Head, KVK, Churachandpur as dignitaries.
The dignitaries emphasized on the Prime Minister's campaign of doubling farmer's income by 2020 while stating that pre kharif maize based cropping system ensure double crop (Pre kharif maize-pulse) and diversify the monocropping of rice mixed farming, especially in jhum areas.
A press release issued by programme coordinator of KVK CCpur stated that ICAR Manipur Centre in collaboration with ICAR Indian Institute of Maize Research, PAU campus, Ludhiana, Punjab are introducing high yielding varieties of high quality protein maize (HQPM) in this region.
Resource persons from ICAR Manipur Centre, Dr M A Ansari, Dr Blessa Sailo and expert from KVK Churachandpur, Dr RK Roshan, Dr Roma, Basil would deliver lectures on resource conservation technology, soil and fertilizer management and possibilities of growing two crops in a year, it stated.
