AR intercepts huge consignment of drugs

Imphal, May 04 2011:
A large consignment of drugs and contraband items were seized by troops of 29 Assam Rifles yesterday during their random frisking and checking operations at its check post at Sita along the Imphal-Moreh section of the NH-39 .
A statement of the PRO IGAR(S) said that the troops intercepted 1,00,000 pieces of Norfloxation tablets when conducted a check to a Maruti van (MN-01W-4423) moving toward Moreh yesterday around noon.
The contraband item belonged to Muktar (23) son of lat Mukllis of Moreh ward no.V who was also found travelling in the van.
A mobile handset and Rs 30,025 in Indian currency was also recovered from his possession.
He along with the seized items has been handed over to Tengnoupal PS, the statement addd.
The same troops intercepted two individuals, travelling on a Tata truck (MN-01-7252) moving towards Moreh, with a huge quantity of drugs.
The individuals were identified as Oinam Maikel (43) of Wangjing, Thoubal and Tekcham Budhi (44) of Wangjing Wangkhei, Thoubal.
They were detained for not possessing the items without mandatory documents for transporting the items.
The items seized from them include 1,35,936 pieces of Drop Itrodex, 48,700 Belagon injections, 6000 pieces of Dexona 4mg injections and Gentamycine 80mg injection, 2,92,800 pieces of Anelquence, 31,000 pieces of Ranitidine 150mg tablet, 14,04,000 pieces of Lasix 4 mg tablet, 1500 pieces of Citrimazole ointment, 28,800 pieces of Lasix injection, 900 pieces of Melanocyl ointment, 500 pieces of Melanocyl lotion, 10,800 pieces of Sacharin, 10,800 pieces of Drop Cipro eye, 5,37,000 Lavazine tablet 12,00 pieces of Sildenafi citrate tablets, 3,780 Flourouracil injections and 1200 pieces of Depo Medral injection.
The two individuals have been handed over to Tengnoupal police along with the seized items, the statement added.
