Imphal, March 22 2021:
The Kuki Inpi Manipur and KSO in a statement issued today, expressed solidarity with the people of Myanmar who were under heavy human crisis in their protests "calling for a return to democracy", and conveyed deep concern over the atrocities committed by the Junta in which 250 people have already been killed.
The Kuki Inpi Manipur and KSO support the democratic aspirations of the people of Myanmar as democracy still offers the best hope to protect human dignity, provide legitimate governance and advance the freedom of the people of Myanmar.
They further appealed to the international community, particularly the neighbouring democratic countries including India to act decisively to protect democracy in Myanmar.
Kuki Inpi also appealed to the North East Indian States bordering Myanmar to render humanitarian aid to the people fleeing persecution from the oppressive Myanmar Junta government.
To show solidarity with the people of Myanmar and to pray for the restoration of democracy in Myanmar, the Kuki Inpi Manipur and KSO will organise a candlelight vigil in the two towns of Moreh and Churachandpur, it added.
