Imphal, April 17 2020:
National Security Act (NSA) may be slapped against miscreants involved in forest/wild fire, said Forest Department.
The NSA was added to the list of other applicable charges to discourage miscreants from burning forest, said an office memorandum of Principal Chief Conservator of Forest and Head of Forest Force, K Angami yesterday.
The office memorandum also instructed all staff to maintain their posts and open temporary posts upto June 30 to avoid and effectively counter wild fire.
Each temporary post will be manned by at least four or five field staff with fire fighting equipment.
They have to work in close coordination with the Joint Forest Management Committee, local clubs, Pradhans/chiefs etc.
Those who are involved in forest/wild fire may be booked under Indian Forest Act 1972, Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972, relevant IPCs and NSA 1980, said the office memorandum.
