JCCWB feeds stray animals

Considering that many stray animals are going hungry as the imposition of lockdown has restricted the public from going outdoors, Joint Co-ordination Committee on Wildlife and Biodiversity (JCCWB) took out a unique drive and started feeding stray animals that are taking shelter in different market sheds and monkeys at Mahabali Forest Imphal from today.
The campaign was flagged off by Thoubal SP Dr S Ibomcha from in front of his office this morning.
Speaking to media persons, JCCWB's spokesperson, Romes Ningthoujam stated that the drive was initiated with help from Forest Department and the general public to feed the stray animals which generally survive from leftover foods from restaurants, vendors etc.
The drive will also be conducted tomorrow and food and fodder for such animals have been arranged, he added.
Appealing the authorities concerned to monitor the population of such stray animals and to arrange a safer place to keep the animals, for the time being, he also appealed to all concerned to extend help to the poor animals.
Many officials of Forest Department Sanjenthong, Central Forest Mantripukhri, Thoubal Forest Division and several well-wishers also extended help to JCCWB for successful implementation of the drive.
JCCWB is a conglomerate of Wildlife and Biodiversity Conservation Committee (WBCC) Manipur and Unique Wildlife Protection Committee (UWLPC) Manipur.
