Police action against students orchestrated by Govt: Students' Wing

Taking serious note over the injuries caused to many students in police action today, the Students' Wing of Joint Action Committee on Inner Line Permit System (JCILPS) has alleged that the police action was orchestrated by the State Government to suppress the ongoing movement for enforcement of ILP system.
Addressing a press meet at the office of DESAM here evening, M Angamba, convener of JCILPS Students' Wing said that eight students of GP Women's College, five students of Manipur College and three students of Imphal College were injured in police action while staging protest to demand implementation of ILP system in different parts today and informed that 4 students amongst them are undergoing treatment at hospitals after receiving critical injuries.
He asserted that students have also rights to take part in protest in connection with the demand for implementation ILP and alleged that the confrontation between students and police which was cropped up while staging protest was the failure of the Government to tackle the issue.
Saying that active participation of students in the ongoing movement for ILP implementation cannot be suppressed by police action, he demanded unconditional release of women folks and students arrested so far in connection with the ongoing agitation.
