As a part of the ongoing work regarding Jiri-Imphal railway, authorities are aiming to finish laying railway tracts from Jiri to Kambirol by March next year.
An official of North East Frontier Railway informed that construction of railway track has been completed till Vangaichungpao along the Jiri to Kambirol stretch (which is around 49 kilometres in distance) and a railway station has also been constructed as well.
All 12 tunnel drilling works between Jiri and Kambirol have been completed.
All of the bridges along the route have also been converted into RC bridges (with only the iron works pending) and railway track laying work is currently underway, the official added.
Informing that the construction of railway tracks till Kambirol will be completed by March next year, the official added that a train station will also be constructed at Thingou.
The official further conveyed that frequent rain and unfavourable weather have often posed serious inconveniences to the railway works.
