Works minister, K Ranjit accompanied by chairman of the Manipur Pollution Control Board, MLA E Dwijamani and chairman of MANITRON, MLA Ratankumar today inspected conditions of road and bridges in Mayang Imphal and Hiyanglam Assembly Constituencies.
After inspecting the conditions of the roads and bridges in the two areas, the works minister assured that blacktopping of Mayai Lambi which passes through the two constituencies will be taken up after the rainy season.
Improvement works of the road connecting Hiyanglum to Wabagai will also be taken up.
Speaking at a public meeting during the visit, the minister also said that his department is keeping a view to keep Mayai Lambi in a good condition considering the importance of the inter-district road.
He also announced that his department has earmarked Rs 5 crore for construction of a bridge across the Manipur River to connect Sekmaijin and Komlakhong.
Once the bridge is completed, the distance to Komlakhong and to Hiyanglam will be shortened.
Observing the good condition of a 7 km stretch of the 17 km long road connecting Sekmaijin with Nongmaikhong, he said that the blacktopping of the remaining 10 km of the road will be taken up at the earliest.
The minister team also inspected the condition of the road from Mayai Lambi to Laphupat Tera and attended another meeting at Waikhong Dam and where he assured improving the roads and bridges of the area.
